The skies aren’t always crystal blue and it’s not always a beach day in Rhode Island, as much as we’d love it to be that way! Sometimes in the summer it rains and even gets a little chilly outside! One thing that we make sure to do is always have activities on hand that we can do with our kids on the days when it’s not picture perfect outside.
Rhode Island is filled to the brim with fun things to do inside and out. Many times we don’t even know what’s out there and depend on other moms sharing their best tips for rainy Rhode Island days! We’re all in this together, so it’s fun to be able to see what other moms do!
So what is there to do in Rhode Island in the summer when it rains?
We asked a bunch of our local moms for their input and we got back a bunch of fun answers!
Make sure you bookmark this list in case your in need of some ideas this summer!
- Play Date in Seekonk, MA: As a matter of fact, I (Audrey) just tried this place today with my daughter Victoria! It’s a fun – indoor play area with a stimulating environment for children to play, learn and socialize with other kids! I was so happy to see Victoria have such a great time with her cousins! It was packed, but you didn’t feel like it was overwhelming at all. It had such a great flow and energy to it. I loved how friendly everyone was and how welcoming everyone made you feel! Definitely worth checking out and adding to your must-do list throughout the summer and the winter months ahead (but we’re not thinking about that yet!).
- Trampoline Parks: Launch / SkyZone / Funcity / Aero – Every mom with a child over 5 years old said to me, “Trampoline Park!” as a must do when it rains! As a mom of 4 boys, I hear you – YES! A gigantic draw! It’s a great place for them to run around and JUMP and get out all the energy! There are a few places around the state that are amazing, so find a place near you and JUMP on in!
- Providence Children’s Museum – You can’t go wrong here! We just went to a birthday party here and it re-introduced me to my love of this destination! I remember going when I was a kid and just having the best time in the world! There are so many different rooms and things to check out and play with! It’s also a wonderful place because you don’t have to worry about your kids BEING kids!
- Roller Skating – Oh, yes! There it is! When was the last time you were on roller skates?! This isn’t ideal for little ones, but it’s great for kids over 6 or 7… not to mention, there are safety rails to get kids out there to try it out! USA Skates is always a good place to try! And there’s also an arcade there and laser tag!
- Bowling – This is such an iconic activity to do with your family! Kids of any age can enjoy bowling! It’s also really inexpensive to do, too! You don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a good time. It’s ideal! Pop the rails up and you’re good to go! There are so many different bowling alleys throughout the state! Have some fun!!
- BIOMES – Rhode Island’s largest aquarium, featuring exhibits, family-friendly classes & feeding demonstrations. My sons have loved this place for years and years! Make sure you give yourself enough time to explore all the different stations there!
